My name is Kacper. My story's began one sunny afternoon when my Mommy saw my little beating
heart on the screen of a monitor. I was five weeks old then and lived in a comfy room right
under her heart. On that very same day Mommy introduced me to Daddy :).
For the next 28 days Mommy had to stay in bed a lot, because I was very eager to meet her and tried to push my way into the world. From time to time Mommy and Daddy peeped at me and knew that I would be a boy.
Then suddenly, right before Christmas, it turned out that I no longer could live in Mommy's
tummy :( Daddy took Mommy to the hospital, and there after several hours I cried out for the first
time. Mommy was crying, because I was born two months too early. She couldn't even hold me, I
was very small and had to live in a plastic incubator, which substituted Mommy's tummy for me.
Right after my birth my Daddy learned from the Doctor that I was very poorly, that I would never be like other children, because I had the Down Syndrome.Additionally, it turned out that my heart was very ill. I had to move to yet another new place - to the cardiology ward in Child Health Centre. Mommy and Daddy wouldn't leave for one minute, but they cried a lot. I very much tried to be brave, but I was getting weaker and weaker. The Doctor said that I had pneumonia, sepsis. Very often they drew blood from me for various tests. Then suddenly it turned out that I had to have an operation, I was almost nine weeks old. Mommy and Daddy told me that I was their treasure that they loved me very much_ Just before the operating room, when I had to part with them, Mummy took me into her arms and whispered_ "Just come back_"
I did come back! It turned out that I am a very brave little boy. Everyone was very surprised
that I managed, that I did not need that nasty tube for breathing. I was already three months
old and Mommy could finally take me into her arms and walk around the room. :) It turned out
that Mommy and Daddy actually know how to smile. Unfortunately, I caught pneumonia again :(.
But I decided to be brave for my Parents. I overcame the pneumonia, piece of cake.
And then that day came_ Daddy came over to the hospital with some funny thing, he put me into
it, buckled me in straps and_ I finally went home!!!!!!!!
I had my own bed :). And you know what? I went for my first walk :). I didn't even know life
could be so much fun. :)
For a couple of months I lived with my Parents, visited my grandparents and grew :). Little by
little, but I was growing - I was seven months old and weighted 5 kilos.
During the summer holidays I had to go to the hospital again, because the
nasty pneumonia caught up with me again. And then it turned out that I was starting to
debilitate_ that once again I had to stay in the Child Health Centre and have my
heart fixed for good. But to have it fixed I had to gain weight. Unfortunately, I
did not manage to do that - in December I was still weighing 6 kilos and the Doctor
said we could no longer wait. And so, on 14 December 2000 Mommy and Daddy were saying
good bye to me again before the operating room. And Mommy asked me again to come back to
her. This time it was a success as well!
From that moment my new life new begun. :)
